Learning the basics of automotive care can be empowering for anyone, from high school students just getting their driver's license to adults looking to gain practical skills. Drawing from my background in education and a passion for mechanics, I offer lessons tailored to your interests—whether you're completely new to car care or looking to deepen your knowledge.
Our lessons cover everything from roadside tire changes and basic maintenance tasks like oil changes, air filter replacements, and battery care to more in-depth workshops. These workshops are designed to build confidence in handling your own vehicle while providing you with practical skills that can save you time and money down the road.
Whether you're a teen preparing for life behind the wheel or an adult wanting to become more self-reliant with car maintenance, you'll leave our lessons with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how your vehicle operates.
Our Lessons Include:
Safety: Before anything else, we prioritize safety. Vehicles are powerful machines, and while they offer us freedom and mobility, they can be unforgiving and complicated. Our lessons begin with the fundamentals of staying safe around vehicles, ensuring that you understand how to approach maintenance and repairs with caution and care.
Procedure: Each lesson follows a structured approach to ensure clarity and safety. We begin with a brief overview of the task at hand, explaining the tools and techniques required. Then, we walk through each step methodically, from preparation and setup to execution and completion. Safety checks and proper tool handling are emphasized at every stage. After demonstration, students are given hands-on opportunities to apply what they've learned, with guided supervision to reinforce the procedure and answer any questions.
Cleanup and Certifying: At the end of each lesson, we ensure that all tools and materials are properly cleaned and stored. A tidy workspace promotes safety and helps maintain equipment for future use. After cleanup, we take time to certify the work completed. This includes inspecting the vehicle to confirm that everything was done correctly and safely. Whether it’s checking fluid levels, securing bolts, or testing battery connections, attention to detail is key. Students leave knowing that a task isn’t finished until it’s thoroughly certified and cleaned up.
Classes are available in person at a location of your choosing or at my garage in NE Minneapolis.
